2016-17 GRACE Art is shaping up

posted Sep 26, 2016, 7:16 PM by GRACE Art

It's going to be another fun year with GRACE Art at Ravensworth! From papel picado to architecture to photography to sculpture, we'll be learning about a lot of different media. Come learn with us. The best way to learn something is to teach it. Come teach (we call it docent) or assist with a session in your child's class.

Once again, K3 Construction Group is teaming up with Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) to sponsor a Thanksgiving Card Challenge among schools in the northern Virginia region. This is the eleventh year that K3 has sponsored this program to select artwork that will be featured on their annual Thanksgiving card.

The young artist who best interprets the Thanksgiving theme will receive a gift card, 100 cards to send to family and friends, and best of all, the selected artwork will be featured as the K3 Thanksgiving card and will be mailed to over 1,000 of the area's leading businesses and associations! In addition, the young artist's school will receive a donation from K3. Certificates of Merit will be presented to second and third place.

If your RAVEN would like to participate in this year's Thanksgiving Card Challenge, please submit his or her Thanksgiving Card artwork to your teacher by Tuesday, October 13, 2015!

Each entry must be on 8 1/2 X 11" paper and include the below attached form.

GRACE Art Ravensworth will select 5 finalists to be submitted to be reviewed by a committee of K3 employees, GRACE employees, and GRACE Board of Directors to select the most imaginative interpretation of the Thanksgiving theme. There will be a reception for all participants on Tuesday, November 17th at 6pm at Greater Reston Arts Center. Invitations will be sent to all participants, art teachers, principals, and GRACE Art Coordinators.
